What are your hobbies outside of working?
My hobbies outside of work include crocheting, watching TV shows & movies, playing video games, spending time at the beach, paddle boarding, gardening, painting, cross stitching, creative writing, cooking, fitness, spending time with friends and partner, and taking care of my 3 rescue cats.
What inspired you to become a Support Worker?
As a neurodivergent person myself, I have deep personal experience understanding and navigating the challenges that come with being neurodivergent, in a world that isn’t always inclusive of us as individuals. I was inspired to become a support worker through my experience of working closely with children and families. Through my work as an educator, my studies in Psychology, and being neurodivergent myself, I’ve seen first-hand how much a person's environment, relationships, and access to appropriate support can make a meaningful difference to a person’s wellbeing, independence, and sense of self. I have always felt I wanted to do 'more' to support individuals with disabilities and complex needs throughout my career as an educator, which has very much shaped my inspiration in becoming a support worker.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very energetic child who was always on the move with a passion for anything that allowed me to express my creativity. I was sometimes shy when making new friends, but once I warmed up to them, they got to see my passionate, caring and empathetic self.
