Kaitlyn - Support Worker

Kaitlyn - Geelong

What are your hobbies outside of working?

Outside of work, I love going for walks (especially with my dogs) , spending time with family and friends, playing sports.

I do love my down time and to be at home just relaxing and doing me. I also enjoy going travelling/trying new things with my partner.

What inspired you to become a Support Worker?

What inspired me to become a support worker is my passion for helping people feel understood, supported and accepted for who they are. Through my experience I know how important it is to be patient, understanding and supportive of each person’s individual needs. I know that everyone faces their own challenges and I want to be someone who can make a positive difference in someone’s life, even in small ways. I am currently studying my Certificate IV in Mental Health because I want to build my knowledge and skills and turn my passion for helping others into a career. I find it meaningful to help people build confidence, feel safe and work towards their goals at their own pace.

What were you like growing up?

Growing up I was quite shy and quiet at first but I have always been a sensitive and empathetic person. I understand that everyone has their own challenges and that sometimes people need extra support, patience and understanding. I have always loved children and animals and I enjoy building connections with others and helping them feel safe and comfortable.
