Maddie T - Therapy Assistant

Maddie T- Lara, Werribee, Wyndham

What are your hobbies outside of working?

Outside of work I’m usually doing something that keeps me active or curious. I enjoy going for walks, and playing Just Dance. I’m also studying Psychological Sciences, so I genuinely enjoy reading and learning about mental health and human behaviour in my spare time. I’m a pretty creative person as well — I love designing things, planning ideas, and sometimes working on little side projects. And when I want to switch my brain off, I thoroughly enjoy getting cozy and watching a good series.

What inspired you to become a Therapy Assistant?

I’ve always been drawn to understanding people and helping them feel supported, especially during difficult times. Through my psychology studies and personal experiences, I realised how powerful the right support and environment can be for someone’s development and wellbeing. The idea of being able to work alongside therapists and support children or young people as they build skills, confidence, and independence really resonated with me. It felt like the perfect way to combine my interest in psychology with meaningful, hands-on work that helps people grow.

What were you like growing up?

Growing up I was always very observant and curious. I was the kind of kid who asked a lot of questions and liked to understand how things work. I was also quite empathetic and often the friend people came to when they needed someone to talk to.
