Sabine B - Support Worker

Sabine B - West Melbourne

What are your hobbies outside of working?

I enjoy sewing and making my own clothes, arts and crafts, drawing, dancing and gymnastics. I love my creative hobbies, but I also enjoy watching TV shows listening to music and scenic drives to the beach.

What inspired you to become a support worker?

My mum inspired me to become a support worker. She has worked in disability support for most of my life, watching her dedication and passion for helping others showed me how rewarding this career can be. As a teenager, I also volunteered with Scouts and Girl Guides, where I loved working with children, helping them achieve weekly goals, and being involved in community and group activities. Those experiences confirmed that supporting others was something I wanted to pursue as a career.

What were you like growing up?

Growing up I was a very caring, energetic and adventurous child. I loved being outdoors, and you could often find me climbing trees, exploring or turning anything I found into an adventure. I was a social butterfly who loved spending time with friends and being involved in my community. I also loved gymnastics and dance, which helped me develop confidence, creativity and a love of staying active.
