What are your hobbies outside of working?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature through hiking, camping, and exploring the outdoors. I love animals and spending time with my people (loved ones) as well as meeting new people out and about too. I enjoy and love dearly my two dogs (Meg and Mia -M&M) , family, friends, and my grandmother, who lives with me. I'm also a creative person and enjoy music, art, learning guitar, and doing creative pursuits, such as painting/drawing and general arts and crafts. I also enjoy reading, especially fiction, or, interesting/ well-written non-fiction novels. I also enjoy gardening and planting, especially when i see the reward of flowers and seedlings begin! I also am currently learning sign language. I enjoy continuous learning and am always looking for adventures/new experiences and opportunities to be curious and perhaps learn something new.

What inspired you to become a Support Worker?

I've always been passionate about helping people feel heard, understood, and supported. What inspired me to become a support worker was seeing the positive impact that genuine care, compassion, and encouragement can have on someone's life. I enjoy helping people build confidence, achieve their goals, and reach their full potential while creating a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment. Every person is unique, and I love adapting my support style to meet their individual needs and strengths.

What were you like growing up?

Growing up, I was creative, rambuctious and cheeky/curious. I loved my friends and family, and enjoyed singing and originally dreamed of becoming a singer. I was always around people, and enjoyed being imaginative, introspective and loved reading and escaping into new worlds. I've always been imaginative, open-minded, and someone who enjoys new things, which are qualities that continue to shape both my personal life and my work today.
