What are your hobbies outside of working?
I love to run every morning before the world is awake. My dog, Louis and I run 5.5km everyday and I love the peace and joy it brings me. I love sports and supporting my kids to play Netball and football. I love the environment and community connections that are built around a sports club. I also enjoy umpiring and coaching aswell. I love a good book and a good series on Netflix to binge watch. And my children and family, the most important part of my world is my kids especially.
What inspired you to become a support worker?
Supporting and empowering someone to do something or achieve something they want to do and walking beside them to be the best version of themselves. I love working/supporting people of all kinds of diverse backgrounds and cultures and helping them achieve their goals, whilst I walk beside them as support.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I had a truck driver dad and 3 brothers, I can confidently say that I am no snowflake and I can handle most situations that others might not be able to, I can stand up for myself when I need to and I can confidently say that I am a strong person because of how I grew up. I played a lot of netball, both at a normal league and at the representative level, which included lots of travelling the state for tournaments to play with the rep teams. And if it wasn’t my netball it was my brothers basketball tournaments. Sports and family and connection is so important and I believe that was instilled into me from grade 6 until the end of year 12, when I had to stop rep netball as I had aged out. I never missed a year and I have amazing memories of those days. Which is why I am so passionate about my kids playing sports aswell.
